Gifts Galore As Foremost Igbo Women Foundation, OUIPWF,Visits Female Inmates At Kirikiri Correctional Facility,Preaches Penitence, Repentance

In fulfilment of its avowed vision, mission and commitment to empowering women and strengthening Communities through various initiatives, the foremost Igbo Women Foundation , Odimma Umuada Igbo Prestigious Women Foundation, (OUIPWF), yesterday, March 29, 2026, visited the Female Custodial facility at Nigeria Correctional Service, Kirikiri, Apapa Lagos .

As compassionate mothers,  the Women did not visited empty handed ,they went with many assorted gift items such as, Rice, detergents, izal disinfectants ,Garri, beans, packs of soft drinks, malts, biscuits, sanitary wears, Noodles, bottled water and snacks.

Exhibiting their inner traits as caring Mothers ,OUIPWF, Keyed  into the understanding that Sports is a veritable recreation tool for people in confinement ,hence they donated dozens of black and white T- Shirts , branded in the name of the facility controller , DCC Olushola Adebisi and OUIPWF ,for the upcoming female Custodian Inter- House Sports Competition holding next week, April 6,2026.

 The Foundation Delegation which arrived at the Custodial facility at about 11. 50 am, was led by It’s Founder, Chief Mrs.Violet Uche Obiora,fondly known as Onaedo, who was accompanied by the groups First Vice President, Evangelist Mrs. Lizzy Anowai ; Lolo Eleam Grace; Mrs. Ebere Egbuna ;Treasurer , Mrs. Anosike Bright Adaeze ; Second Vice President, Mrs. Akpanebe Maureen ; Abia Liaison Officer, Chief Mrs.Ngozi Isubele Kanu and Comrade Beatrice Ojukwu, who coordinated the Prison visit.

Receiving the Women Foundation on behalf of DCC Olushola Adebisi, CSC Oladimeji Ibukun , appreciated the women for deeming it pertinent to visit the inmates with their gifts.

After necessary security checks were observed , the Foundation Members were ushered into a hall , where the inmates were already seated in an inter- denominational Church Service piloted by fellow Inmates, identified as Pastor Linda , Assistant Pastor Oliveira Okimba and another visiting female Pastor, Pastor Favour of Global Ministry Outreach.

Preaching, Pastor Favour who quoted some Bible Verses such as : Isaiah 43 v 18,19; Ephesians 2v4 and 2nd Corinthians 5v17 ,inclined the inmates to believe that Only God Makes all things new , insisting that God will Finish it .

In her words of exaltations and encouragement , Chief Mrs. Obiora ,enjoined the inmates to become agent of change to help change the society whenever  they get freedom.

Mrs. Onaedo, who said that the correctional facility is not the best place for the inmates, regretted that some of the inmates may have been innocent but for some incomprehensible circumstances and reasons ,they found themselves there.

She said ,”we are not more righteous than you people here.We want to encourage you all that God will free you all out, we are praying for you people”.

Evangelist  Lizzy Anowai , who said that she was inspired in spirit, led praises and worship songs.

According to information posted by the Nigeria Correctional Service, the facility has capacity for 271 inmates, however there are 301 final lock up inmates present, made up of 63 convicted,231 Awaiting Trial Mates,300 open out;1 lifer and 5 on IDR death roll.
