Ohanaeze Group Wants Ozonweke’s illegal “South West Coordinator Office” Scrapped,Vows To Appoint Chief Aguene World Wide Coordinator

Another Ndigbo leadership portfolio crisis looms, and may likely envelope the foremost Pan Igbo Socio Cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide.

Our Correspondent gathered that the looming agitation is coming on the heels of the debate surrounding the legality or otherwise ,of the controversial office of the” Coordinator, South West,Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide , said not to be enshrined in the Organization’s Constitution .

This follows recent exposition by a former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, Chief Solomon Aguene, who revealed in an interview published by an online Newspaper,the illegitimacy and unconstitutionality of the “South West Coordinator Office”, which he said is alien and not enshrined in Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide Constitution.

Investigations by our Correspondent indicated that the rejection and criticism of the South West Coordinator Office, cut across all Igbo strata .

Some prominent Stakeholders, Ndiezes and Member were reported to have kicked against on going situation, where they lamented that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata and Imeobi, have overlooked the alleged Constitutional abnormality and abuse by Onowu Everest Ozonweke, who they accused to have continued to label himself as South West Coordinator,despite public denouncement by late Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, during a general Assembly meeting in Enugu , before his demise.

Chief Iwuanyanwu, was reportedly said to have disassociated and purged himself from his earlier mistake ,where he regretted allowing himself to be pressured by Everest Ozonweke, into creating such unconstitutional office .

In the light of the alleged inaction and reluctance by Current leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide, to stop and or ban Everest Ozonweke from tagging himself South West Coordinator, a group known as ,”Ohanaeze Ndigbo progressive Alliance “, who said that they are made up of Stakeholders, Ndiezes, Members and Igbo Leaders, have vowed to stop ongoing unconstitutionality.

The group who spoke through the Former Assistant Secretary Ohanaeze Ndigbo Entertainment Committee,Mrs. Susan Nwachukwu, announced as part of the measures to compel the National Body to officially stop Ozonweke from tagging himself South West Coordinator, have appointed the Emeritus President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, as “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Coordinator World Wide “.

Urging Senator John Mbata to enforce constitutionalism in the Organizational structure, the group vowed to organize a One Million Man March , to formally present Chief Aguene as Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide Coordinator, as well as to register their protest over Ozonweke’s South West Coordinator illegality .

Threatening litigation, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Progressive Alliance “, also vowed to institute legal action against Onowu Everest Ozonweke , to compel him to stop abusing and denigrating the Organization by parading himself as Ohanaeze Ndigbo Coordinator in South West, a position they claimed is Unconstitutional and alien to the Socio – Cultural Organization.

In what appears to be a massive movement of progressive minded Igbos in the South West geo political region, most of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Present and past Presidents in all the States that fall within South West,who spoke on the grounds of anonymity,described the Coordinator South West office ,as strange, contradictory and an aberration.

They argued that if such office must be included in the Apex body Constitution, it must go through constitutional reviews and amendments.

According to them,” if the name scales through during constitutional reviews and becomes an official office in Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide Constitution , it should be occupied by one of the South West States Current Presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, adding that it should be on rotational bases amongst the State Chapters,and not a floor member like Everest Ozonweke labeling himself with such office.

For instance , they opined that it will be ridiculous and demeaning to appoint a none Executive member or an ordinary floor member,who contested for President seat and failed election,as well as being under Chief Sunday Ossai’s Presidency in Lagos, to bear such office.This they said is to avoid disrespect,confusion and leadership tussel in the Organizational structure in the South West.

Raising another vital questions , the group noted the important issues of credibility and the State in South West that would produce the officer, as well as the domicile , where the physical office of such a none state president or ordinary floor member so appointed would be located.

Substantiating their arguments, the group further said thus:”This lack of physical office location is the reason, Everest Ozonweke has no known address or office as a self acclaimed South West Coordinator”, they opined.

In a verification interview with Our Correspondent, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, confirmed that he has been informed and approached by various notable Igbo Stakeholders, over his nomination and appointment as “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Coordinator World Wide”.

Chief Aguene who welcomed his recognition as a worthy candidate for such office,by prominent Stakeholders across Lagos State, Enugu, overseas and in South West, promised to give our medium feedback soon.

He said he was studying the situation intensely with his numerous supporters.

However, he blamed Ozonweke for causing the recent agitation that is gearing towards breaking the cohesion amongst Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide membership , over what he called ” Ozonweke’s greedy desire to become Igbo leader by all means, at all cost ,and his selfishness , which made him to be labeling himself as an unconstitutional Ohanaeze Ndigbo Coordinator South West “.

Aguene ,enjoined Senator Mbata,who he praised for recognizing him as authentic president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos ,before his official handover and end of his Consent Judgement tenure, to intervene and stop ongoing abuse and unconstitutionality by Everest Ozonweke.

He alerted Senator Mbata on what he called the antics of Everest Ozonweke, who he accused of deceiving Ndigbo and Enugu National Body, with his false claims of being the eyes of Mbata, Imeobi and General Assembly in Lagos State .

According to him, if Ozonweke’s illegality continues unchecked, I will accept this timely appointment by Ndigbo World Wide and deploy my capabilities, capacity and pull an overwhelming crowd to join and support the progressive agitation and appointment bestowed on me”, he vowed.
