The Igbo Speaking Community leadership in Lagos State, has called on the Oyo State Government and the State Police Commissioner , to ensure that the brutal murder of six members of an Igbo family, resident at Oloba village, Lagelu local government Area of Oyo State ,is not swept under the carpet.

The call is coming on the heels of recent uproar and wide spread condemnation across the country , over the barbaric wiping out of an entire Igbo family of six people in one night.

The alleged cold blooded murder of an Igbo family of six people by some toxic and hostile neighbors , masterminded by Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo , Padonu Edward and others yet to be apprehended, was said to have occured on September 22nd, 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the Igbo Speaking Community, Youth Leader, Comrade Okechukwu Uzuegbunam , Condemned the killing , insisting that the frequent murder of Igbos in the South – West, is taking similar pattern, which he said are borne out of envy and greed.

Comrade Uzuegbunam, who is also Chairman of Igbo Speaking Community in Ikotun LCDA, therefore called on all True and Worthy Igbos in Diaspora, to rise and condemn the vicious murder of their brothers and sisters in Oyo State.

While listing such recent similar killings of Igbos in Lagos and across the country, Comrade Uzuegbunam, enjoined Igbos to jettison bickerings and internal wranglings amongst themselves and step forward to fight for justice for the Igbo family wiped out in Oyo State.

According to a report credited to the Oyo State Police Command , on October 6th, three suspects – Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward – all from Oloba Village, Lagelu LGA, invaded the home of Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children on September 22nd.

The Suspects robbed them of N200,000, a Boxer motorcycle, chainsaw and spraying machine. Then they executed them.

The husband was said to have been shot dead. The wife was hit on the head with a club until she died.

Uzuegbunam said that the most heartbreaking part of the horrific incident , was that the killers tied two of the innocent children by their hands and legs and threw them alive into a river.

“The other two children and their parents’ bodies were also dumped in the same river”, he narrated .

Explaining , he regretted this : “As we speak, only the wife’s body has been recovered. The bodies of Ifeanyi, and his four children are still inside that river.

Querying and agitating over the horror ,he said: “Now let me ask, why is it always Igbo families?

Further explaining , he noted that ,”An Igbo man leaves his land, goes to Oyo State to hustle, buys a small motorcycle, buys work machines to feed his wife and four kids. He lives peacefully among Yorubas in Oloba Village. His neighbours, people who know him, who see his children every day, plan his death because they envy his little progress”.

Visibly Angry , he said :”N200,000 !!!?. That is the value they placed on 6 Igbo lives. N200k that will finish in two weeks”.

Reminiscing , the Igbo Leader recalled thus : “This is the same story we heard in 2023, 2024, 2025. Igbo traders killed in their shops, Igbo families attacked in their homes outside Igbo land. But when an Igbo man defends himself, they call him tribalistic”.

He Said ,”If a Yoruba family was killed like this in Anambra or Abia, by now the whole Nigerian internet would be on fire. But because it’s an Igbo family of six in Oyo, everyone is silent. Just “three suspects arrested.” No outrage”.

Therefore , he insisted that the “Oyo State Government and Oyo Police must ensure justice here. Not audio justice. These suspects must not be released after two months to go and kill another Igbo family. This must be charged as murder, armed robbery and capital offence. The Oyo State Governor must speak”.

Advising Igbos in Diaspora he said : “To my Igbo brothers living in Oyo, Lagelu, Ibadan – be careful. Know your neighbours. Install CCTV. This Oloba Village killing shows that envy is real. Your progress is watched”.

Praying for the victims , he said ,”May the soul of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four innocent children rest in peace”.

Concluding, he said ,” This family came to Oyo to hustle, they ended inside a river. This is too much. If you are Igbo and this pain touches you, share this. Let the world see what happened to this family”.
