Top Igbo Leader and Emeritus President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has blasted Onowu Everest Ozonweke over his remarks published in an online Newspaper recently.

Chief Aguene, who explained that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State Election was not Nullified, assured Igbo Stakeholders and Leaders, that there will be no conduct of fresh Election in Lagos by Senator John Azuta-Mbata,Imeobi ,NEC or GEC .
This is even as he revealed that the South West Coordinator office, which he said Onowu Everest Ozonweke, is parading himself as,”is Unconstitutional ,Alien and does not exist in Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide constitution”.
He said: “Everest Ozonweke should stop deceiving himself and few Stateholder in Enugu, because it was late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu ,that created this his Unconstitutional South West Coordinator Office, as a Compensation for his errands and regular night bus trips to Enugu , but when the Elder Statesman found out that the Coordinator office was not constitutional,he later withdrew his appointment before the General Assembly meeting in Enugu and converted Ozonweke, as his Lagos Personal Assistant ,PA”.
Continued He ,”Chief Iwuanyanwu also during that meeting , said that it was Ozonweke that suggested the South West Coordinator office to him and put pressure on him to announce it. But when Chief Iwuanyanwu realized that Ozonweke anti Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos posture, was because he contested election with Sunday Ossai and lost, he then immediately purged himself , by saying that it was wrong to make him (Ozonweke) , a South West Coordinator, above his President ,leaders and other South West states serving presidents, adding that if such office will be created, it must be occupied by a serving president in the South West Ohanaeze but with a rotatory tenure amongst the states in the region”.
Chief Aguene, who was speaking from his Country home castle in Ebonyi State, adviced those plotting to bring Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide body ,to conduct a fresh illegal Election in Lagos, should stop their day dreaming , “as the National Body lacks the Constitutional right and power to meddle into the electoral affairs of any state chapter”.
“The National Body and Imeobi Never said that they Will Conduct election in Lagos or any other branches , just as they don’t have any budgetary allocation to States”, he Opined.
Questioning Onowu Ozonweke and his aggrieved cohorts, Aguene asked,” Did Imeobi ,NEC or Mbata conduct the elections that took place in Oyo, Kano, Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers and others?, Why Lagos State now ?”
He corrected the erroneous impression and rumours of election nullification being peddled by those he called sworn enemies of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, adding that “Senator John Azuta-Mbata, did not and can not nullify last Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo poll , after he directed, approved and backed the process before legitimate Stakeholders, through his statement during his Lagos visit “.
Explaining the false nullification narratives, Aguene said thus : ” what purportedly happened at the last Imeobi, GEC meeting in Enugu was a nullity and shenanigans orchestrated by few power hungry people like, Linus Igbudu, Everest Ozonweke, Ubochi Ubochi, Robert Obasi, Uguru Kalu, John Greg Okey Ezebuadi and one acclaimed honorable, who is unknown in Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos”.
” They ganged up and masqueraded themselves as genuine Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State members, by supposedly raising a dead on arrival motion at the Imeobi meeting, which was not communicated to us, the legitimate leadership in Lagos State Ohanaeze Ndigbo”, he explained.
Querying how none members could raise motion to nullify a legitimate election they were not part of, Chief Aguene challenged them to provide documented written evidence of such unexisting nullification signed by Senator John Mbata.
“These people grandstanding now , whose stock in trade is jumping night buses to Enugu, are the real enemies of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, “he said
Insisting that the recently conducted State election was the most credible, free and fair poll ever conducted in the history of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos state, Chief Aguene, warned detractors that “any plot or attempt by any National Body to conduct any fresh election, will lead to an unimaginable crisis that has the potential of lasting for three decades”.
Further warning Onowu Ozonweke and his cohorts against Ridiculing Senator John Mbata,Imeobi,NEC or GEC with their usual election nullification propaganda and none existing South West Coordinator Office,Chief Aguene, asked if “Afenifere and Arewa are responsible for the conduct of elections in branches of their different Organizations?”.
He recalled how “Ozonweke contested for Ohanaeze Ndigbo President post in Lagos and lost woefully to Chief Sunday Ossai .
“Funny enough, after his defeat, he will not go and bury his head in shame, instead he will try to make himself fake President through the back door and in the process, he rubbishes the National Body by feeding them with wrong information, just as he deceived Chief John Nnia Nwodo and created the crisis that engulfed Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos for over 8 years now”, Aguene lamented.
He noted that the National Body in Enugu is a father figure umbrella Assemble, that has no financial contribution and electoral control powers over branches but only deserves State chapters respect.
Regretting that Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide has lost vibrant Leadership, social Cultural status and direction, Aguene, blamed the situation on “political polarization by greedy people like Ozonweke.”
According to him, “the Era of genuine, undiluted , constitutional National Body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide has gone with Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Akanu Ibiam and a host of others, but now it has been rubbished by politics”.
He insisted that “Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide was earlier hijacked by stomach infrastructure elements like Ozonweke, i thank God that brought Senator Mbata and his Secretary General ,who are doing their best efforts to turn things around for good of the entire Igbo Nation”.
Casting doubt on the rumored nullification and fresh conduct of elections, Chief Aguene noted that “Senator John Mbata could not have bypassed him and Chief Sunday Ossai, the two legitimate leaders in Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chapter, and invited to Imeobi meeting, characters like Linus Igbudu, Robert Obasi, Kalu Uguru, Ubochi Ubochi , who is not even a member of the Organization at the Local Government level , including Everest Ozonweke,a self made illegal South West Coordinator”.
“I have respect for Senator John Mbata and believe that he will not want to rubbish himself by hobnobbing and romancing with Ozonweke, Ubochi and their illegality , just the same way they deceived Chief John Nnia Nwodo and brought him to nullify Oba Ojoto’ election and conducted a fresh Poll, which brought crisis to Lagos, that just ended now with the election of Oba Ojoto as President”,he said.
He therefore ,advised Senator John Azuta-Mbata, to “avoid contradicting himself because of wrong advice by few rogue elements in Lagos “.
He reminded Senator Mbata of his earlier “authorization and directives given to me before Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary General , the Assistant legal Adviser , Chief Sunday Ossai, Chief Leonard Okafor, now President, who contested the election based on Mbata’s public pronouncement, Onowu Everest Ozonweke , Members of NEC and other Igbo Stakeholders in Lagos State, permitting me to conduct election and hand over before the end my tenure in April,2026, which I did respectfully . He also promised to visit Lagos after the election, to enable him (Mbata ) to take whosoever that won the election to the Lagos State Authority for introduction”.
” if not for my respect for Senator Mbata, who I see as a truthful, lawful and honest Leader, that recognized me as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President and told Ndigbo the truth that my Consent Judgement must be respected, I would have gone to the Court and extend my Consent Judgement for another eight years”, Aguene Concluded.
