Fresh protest has erupted in Lagos over  continued detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra  (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Lending their own voice to the ongoing and  planned protest across the country , a concerned group of citizens ,coming under the aegis of  “Igbodum Multicultural Organization of Nigeria”, has called on the Nigerian President,  Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu ,an immediate and unconditional State Pardon.

Pleading with President Tinubu ,the group whose mission statement revolves around Justice, Equal Right,Fairness, equity and freedom, reminded President Tinubu, of the reported deteriorating and dwindling health of Mazi Kanu, who has been incarcerated since 2021 , that he was captured and arrested in Kenya .

Speaking, the Group’s President World Wide, Prince Emechebe Celestine ,noted that the continued detention of Mazi Kanu at the facility of the Secret Police, otherwise known as the Department of State Services(DSS), is instrumental to the heightened insecurity and grave economic woes in the South East.

He therefore beckoned on the leadership of the National Assembly ,to also lend their own voice on the ongoing agitations and  Nationwide protest demanding for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, who has been incarcerated for over 5 years.

Prince Emechebe, insisted that granting freedom to Kanu ,will be a ticket to justice , progress and National Unity.

In his own contribution, the Public Relations Officer, Mr.Chidi Pius Odiegwu, stated that the demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is driven by concerns about his health, the legality of his detention, and the impact on peace and security in the Southeast region.

Standing with Kanu, Odiegwu, believes that Mazi Kanu ‘s fundamental right was violated over the alleged Extra – Ordinary rendition , which he said was akin to kidnapping him from another Country.

Asserting that the continued detention of Mazi Kanu , has ongoing negative and unfavourable International perception and consequences to Nigeria , Igbodum PRO,also attributed the prevalent insecurity ,common man in the street lost of faith in the Country’s Judiciary  ,high voting apathy and tumultuous political atmosphere in the South East, as consequences of  Mazi Kanu’s detention.

According to Igbodum Strategic and Planning Director, Chief Dr. Elliot  Okpataku, the objective of their organization is rooted in fairness , equity and changing of narratives .

In his own assessment  , releasing of Kanu will restore faith in the Justice system, boost the ailing economy ,which he opined is already in Shambles, foster unity, peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst the ethnic units.

Querying the justification of what he termed  Kanu’s unfair detention, Dr. Elliot,  chastised the government for negotiating and  romancing with bandits, who he said are obviously seen carrying arms and killing people, whereas a prisoner of conscience , who was agitating for the goodness of his country is kept to languish in detention.

He therefore urged  President Tinubu,  for the interest of fairness and justice, to take immediate action in granting  Mazi Nnamdi Kalu amnesty as prisoner of conscience, before his health situation goes out of hand.

It would be recalled that Mazi Kanu ,has been held by the Department of State Services (DSS) since his re-arrest in Kenya in 2021. His prolonged detention has sparked widespread protests and calls for his release, with many citing concerns over his deteriorating health.
