Reminiscing Abba Kyari ‘s Defining Moment As A Police Officer

The Name Abba Kyari to many , evokes respect , love and the feelings of nostalgia for an adorable Police Officer ,seen by many as a Legendary Super Cop.

 But to some others, especially those in the Criminal world, his Name is a nightmare.

Indeed, in the life of every great man,as human , there is always a defining moment .

For Abba Kyari as a law enforcement Officer and popular Super Cop, his first One – On- One Shooting encounter with Armed Robbers ,was a defining moment.

Narrating his experience to a Journalist, he Said: “Back in December 2002, when I was a young officer serving in Adamawa State, I experienced my first direct gun battle with armed robbers.

At about 9:00 p.m., I was driving my Honda Prelude along the 72-kilometre highway between Song and Yola. As I approached a sharp bend approximately 40 kilometres from Yola, I encountered a group of armed robbers who had blocked the road. They had already stopped and robbed four vehicles, and the victims were lying face down on the highway as the robbery was in progress.

As I brought my vehicle to a stop because the road was blocked, two of the armed robbers immediately rushed toward my car with their weapons drawn. Unknown to them, I was an armed officer.

Reacting swiftly, I drew my pistol and fired at the two attackers through the car window. Immediately afterward, I opened the door, jumped out of the vehicle, and took cover in the surrounding bush, rolling into the tall grass while remaining alert and prepared for any further attack.

I expected the remaining robbers to engage me, but to my surprise, they fled into the bush as soon as they saw that two of their members had been neutralized. Their operation collapsed instantly, and they abandoned the scene.

That night remains unforgettable. It was my first direct, one-on-one shooting encounter with armed robbers and a defining moment in my career as a law enforcement officer.
