A member of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Electoral Committee inaugurated last Sunday, March 29, 2026, Mr. Jude Onyeabor, has berated Robert Obasi led group, for trying in vain to deceive the public with their wrong, scathing and whapped interpretation of March 31, 2026 Status Quo Ruling by a high court.
Onyeabor’s reaction is coming on the heels of Robert Obasi’s social media flaunting of a status quo ruling delivered on March 31, 2026 by a Lagos High Court Presided over by Justice M.M. Balogun .
Correcting the erroneous interpretations , Onyeabor educated the Purveyors of “Stop Elections Narrative”, that the legitimately inaugurated Electoral Committee is independent of Chief Solomon Aguene and not a party to their suit , hence any restriction by the Court against parties in the suit , does not affect or impinge on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Electoral Committee duties and functions , and legally cannot stop the ongoing electoral processes that kick started before the ruling.
Mocking those he described as “Obasi led Igbo rebels” , Onyeabor noted that the Court in the suit delineated as YSD/96800CM/2025,did not expressly or directly order or restrained their Electoral committee to stop the ongoing conduct of elections, adding that Igbo leaders like Chief Solomon Aguene and Chief Sunday Ossai ,has nothing to do with the conduct of the election, having fulfilled the directives by Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General , as well as the provisions and letters of the High Court Consent Judgement that empowered and extended Aguene’s tenure .
Explaining further, Onyeabor challenged Obasi’s group ,to tell Ndigbo what the status quo that the court ordered to be maintained are.
According to him, “the status quo to be maintained are , that Chief Aguene remain the legitimate Ohanaeze Ndigbo President until the expiration of the court consent Judgement by April 8, 2026, and that Chief Sunday Ossai remain Obasi’s group leader ,pending the determination of the substantive matters”.
He enjoined Ndigbo and the public to jettison the whapped interpretation being circulated in the social media by Obasi led rebel group.
Reminding Obasi led group that they are still having contempt of Court dangling on their necks, he noted ,”that he who goes to equity , must go with clean hands”, hence he asked them if they obeyed Chief Solomon Aguene’s Court Consent Judgement. .
Onyeabor ,therefore ,called on all peace loving Igbo residents in lagos State to be agile and not to be deceived by the likes of Obasi, urged them to continue to maintain peace .
He Maintained that the ” Lagos State High Court has not ordered or restrained our Independent and legally constituted Electoral Committee, which was inaugurated by Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly on March 29, 2026, which came even before the 31 March Court ruling against individuals”.
“We were not stopped or restrained from conducting Ohanaeze Ndigbo election, which is in its concluding stage, because the committee is not under any of the parties in the suit and we are not servant or agent to Chief Aguene, Chief Gabby Oseke and Chief Ossai”, he concluded.
