The National Coordinator of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Southwest, Chief Everest Ozonweke, has denied allegation that he wrote a petition to the Executive Governor Of Lagos State , Mr.Babajide Sanwo Olu,against Ndigbo in Lagos.
Obviously aggrieved ,Chief Ozonweke , described the allegation as imaginary , frivolous and a figment emanating from the imagination of the Purveyors of the false information.
Ozonweke, who is popularly known as Onowu, berated former Ohanaeze President, Chief Solomon Aguene, vowing that he would ensure that Chief Aguene Produces evidence of the petition allegation or face prosecution.
Reminding him of atrocities he allegedly committed in the discharge of his consent judgment , which terminated on April 8th , 2026, Ozonweke noted that given that there was an enrollment High Court Order that restrained parties in the Suit , he has no reason to petition against the purported election which Aguene’s inaugurated Electoral Committee organized, that produced Chief Leonard Okafor (Oba Ojoto) as President.
“This is one of Aguene’s stock in trade, making false and frivolous accusations , which he usually does not have evidences and proofs. This time around, he must prove his claims , as the Governor’s Chief of Staff have been briefed adequately. Aguene will be held accountable. For record purposes , I did not write any petition against Ndigbo or the election, because there is a valid and subsisting court order that made such actions unnecessary”, Ozonweke Stated.
On allegation that Onowu was anti pre – election Peace negotiations, Ozonweke stated that “there was no true peace efforts and initiative ,as the seeming public declaration for peace was a facade to deceive and grab presidential power , hence Oba Ojoto election was dead on arrival because it was against all Ohanaeze Ndigbo rules , bye laws, regulations , principles ,indeed an efforts in futility, because the whole process was flawed”
According to Ozonweke, Aguene’s consent judgment has elapsed, and he has been reduced to nothing, lacking reputation and credibility to sit with Igbo leaders.
Ozonweke claimed he was instrumental in packaging Aguene, despite Aguene’s limitations, but ” regrettably Aguene turned against him”.
In his voice notes circulating on social media, Ozonweke stated that Aguene has failed and will continue to fail because he (Ozonweke) is innocent and protected by God.
Onowu, believes that Aguene’s allegations and Cyber bullying against him, are product of inferiority complex and are attempts to create enmity between him and Ndigbo, who he said, that he has served with honesty, dedication and sincerity.
He accused Aguene of being the brain child of the hitherto crisis between Chief Sunday Udeh and Chief Sunday Eze.
Further, Onowu accused Aguene of anti – Igbo activities, even to the point of allegedly partaking in the sharing of the election forms money in Ikeja.
Onowu, regretted the ill treatment Aguene meted on Chief Sunday Ossai few days before his inauguration , despite accepting yams and other gifts during Ossai’s courtesy visit.
Explaining the ethics and qualities of a good leader, especially Traditional Eze, Onowu berated Eze Fredrick Nwajaga, for his voice notes against him(Onowu), Ekene Ajunwa and others, advising Nwajaga to retrace his steps, “because the real wealthy people stay in Banana Island and Eko Atlantic City without making some senseless unacceptable noise” .
Expressing shame and disappointment over the said controversial voice notes , where Eze Nwajaga was said to have boasted of being richer after serving jail term,Ozonweke queried the moral implications and significance of such to the society , whereby such a horrible and abhorrent Ex- Convict standard is being set by a purported king.
Warning against impending nemesis ,Onowu therefore warned Nwajaga to respect himself and his age and for record purposes deny writing petition against Nwajaga .
He emphasised his commitment to resolving crises among Ndigbo in Southwest, citing successes in some states, such as Oyo, Ondo etc.
While clarifying his stand on ongoing crisis , he affirmed that he is not aversed to peace in Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State ,but seeks genuine efforts from Igbo leaders to address issues and bring lasting peace.
The South West Coordinator believes that Aguene’s allegations against him, was scandalous ,a deliberate desperate attempt to shift Ndigbo’s attention away from his own failures and alleged atrocities he committed against the Igbo Nation.
Ozonweke revealed that his firm determination to prosecute Aguene, demonstrates his commitment to accountability and justice.
According to him, such situations like Aguene’s alleged frequent false allegations, highlights the challenges facing Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, like unending leadership disputes and allegations ,which threatens the organization’s stability.
However,Ozonweke’s teaming supporters, affirm that his unequaled leadership acumen and vision are very germane and crucial in addressing such challenges.
They argued that as the National Coordinator, South West, Ozonweke has a responsibility to promote unity and cooperation among Ndigbo in Southwest, hence his response actions against Aguene demonstrates his commitment to protecting the interests of Ndigbo.
Some of the Support base who spoke on the grounds of anonymity , believes that ,”the outcome of this present long jam situation will have significant implications for Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s future, especially with Ozonweke’s determination to hold Aguene accountable ,potentially setting a precedent for accountability within the organization.”
They further argued that Ozonweke’s stance against Aguene,” reflects his dedication to Ndigbo and its people, prioritizing their welfare and interests above personal or political considerations.”
