A  popular Community leader and Eze Ndigbo in Aigbaka, Ejigbo area of Lagos State,Eze Nicholas Njoku, has asked youths in the area to be peaceful catalyst and agents of development.

In an interactive session to mark this years Easter holiday, Ambassador Njoku urged the Youths to shun illicit drug use ,abuse and other social vices.

Eze Njoku’s appeal is coming on the heels of emerging crime waves in Ejigbo, which he said is worrisome to residents in the area 

He stressed the need for peace, which he argued is a catalyst for development.

Eze Njoku who residents in the community respect for his Calm headedness , have been receiving a wide range of commendations and praises from across the country, over his undeterred and continuous sponsorship of various levels of Youth engagement and Character moulding interactions in the state.

Eze Njoku, who is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador, according to some youths in the area,has for years initiated and instituted various levels of Youth engagement, training and assistance, aimed at wading off youths cut across various ethnic groups, from crimes, criminality and other forms of social vices .

Speaking at one of such forums held on Monday, April 1, at Eze Njoku’s “Palace of Truth and Peace”, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Operations, Lagos State Police Command, ACP Emmanuel Oyewole, who was on a private visit to Eze Njoku’s house before he bumped on the youth engagement program, Commended Eze Njoku on his vision for the country’s youths.

ACP  Oyewole, who called on Ejigbo youths to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to ensure crime free and an egalitarian society, enjoined them to be agents of change by “saying and doing something whenever they see something “.

The Senior Police Officer, also Urged Royal fathers such as Oba’s, Baales and other community leaders in the state to emulate Eze Njoku’s vision, by replicating such a novel security interactive programs for the youths in their various localities.

He said: ” When you Build the Youths, you build the Nation, I commend Eze Nicholas Njoku for organizing such a program for building the youths.Security Operatives can not do it all alone.I therefore urge other community leaders, Obas and Baales to emulate Eze Njoku.Iam also calling on the youths in Ejigbo to join hands, cooperate with the police, especially with the DPO to combat crimes in the area “.

While responding to allegation by a youth leader,over police brutality especially amongst Junior officers , ACP Oyewole said thus: “Police officers are product of the society, just like the entire society, police officers are not perfect, there are also bad eggs amongst the police circle.You must see something and say something and do something because the power of arrest lies on everyone according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria”.

Collaborating  the ACP’s words of advice and views, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in Ejigbo, Mrs Vera Ameh, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP,  praised Eze Njoku’s efforts on youths training and security consciousness interactions.

DPO Ameh , who attended the event with CSP Udauk, expressed appreciation to Ejigbo youths for the cooperation they are giving her so far, and urged the Youths to collaborate with the police , other security agencies and to be good Ambassadors of the Nation.

She said, ” such informal interactions would go a long way in solving some problems in the community, the youths should Ejigbo safe”.

In his own remark, Eze Njoku , who expressed his gratitude to all his guests, especially, the Community Leaders, Youth leaders, senior police officers and other security agencies present at the event, however regretted the alarming spike in cases of kidnapping and other social vices.

He warned the Youths on the dangers of engaging into crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery,illicit drug use, drug abuse and drug trafficking .

According to him, ” I have lived in Ejigbo for over 25 years now and Iam worried about the recent negative reports of kidnapping, armed robbery, drug abuse and other social vices in Ejigbo, hence I decided to organize this interaction and engagement with the Youths.As a youth,  if you use your money to buy drugs, you buy poverty, death, prison and bleek future. Youths should be agents of change.Iam impressed with the senior police officers present for their patience to stay for over four hours now, to advice our youths, in this event that they were not earlier informed about or invited “

Various Community leaders and members of ” Eziokwu  Bu Ndu”  Palace Members at the event, like Onowu Richard Chukwuedozie and Chief ,Barrister Charles Onyeaku, others such as Chief Anselem Udoka, Chief Sunny Akpoyibo , Comrade Anisu Lukman, Comrade Lawan, Boys Scout representatives ; Bamidele Peters, Anjola Ibrahim and others, enjoined the Youths to change the narrative by shunning drug  abuse, armed robbery,kidnapping and other social vices and imbibe the culture of lawfulness and collaboration with the police ,other security agencies for a better, sane and prosperous Nation.

Responding, Youth leader and Coordinator , National Youth Council Of Nigeria, Ejigbo Chapter,Comrade Akinyele Akintunde , commended Eze Njoku’s efforts in cooperating with the Youths from all ethnic nationalities.

Comrades Akintunde and Okunlola Akinola,in unison ,advised the Police and other security Agencies to stop handling youths with iron hands so as to get the best out of them.
