Notable Igbo Leader and Onyeisi Ndigbo in Abaranje/ Okerube, Lagos State,Chief Dr.Chukwudi Boniface Okparaku, has commended Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria , CRAN, for their dedication and Sacrifice to Nigeria.
Chief Okparaku,who is the Chairman Of Bonchudi Group of Companies Africa and the ” Amuruonyenaego” of Ihitenansa and Ihiteowerre in Imo State, lauded the efforts and contributions of Crime Reporters in Crime reporting, Crime fighting and assistance to Security Agencies .

While delivering a key note address, Chief Okparaku, who received a life time award on philanthropy, recounted how over 5000 ORSU Local Government Area residents, lost their lives and property worth multiple billions of Naira ,as a result of insurgency in the last Six years .
However, he regretted and accused the National Media for deliberately blanking and or refused to report the insurgency in ORSU area.
Disturbed over policing in Nigeria, Chief Dr. Okparaku , also raised serious concerns over Nigerians reluctance in providing necessary but needed information to Security Agencies.

Speaking at the 2025 Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), held at Sheba Event Center, 20, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way , Ikeja,Lagos State, Onyeisi Ndigbo, who was also one of the Royal Father of the Day, narrated how he gathered few like minded wealthy men from his community ,who surrendered their lives, raised funds, collaborated with Governor Hope Uzodinma and Security Agencies, to tackle ORSU insurgency , at the detriment of their lives and safety , even to the point of going into exile,over threats by IPOB and ESN .
According to him, any terrorism that endured for 48 hours, the Government knows about it, noting that Citizen must be educated and given a proper orientation .
He called for accountability on the part of security Agencies , which he said is necessary to curb the rising insecurity.

Telling a story and his experience on how London police officers invaded his white host house, three minutes after him, a black man visited friend , he insisted that Insecurity, cannot be controlled, except the Citizens play their roles in providing information.
Okparaku further urged journalists to revive the courage and investigative rigour that once defined crime reporting in Nigeria, noting that fearless media scrutiny remains essential to uncovering failures in the country’s security system.
