Notable Traditional Igbo leader and respected custodian of Igbo cultural heritage from Oraukwu, Idemili North local Government Area of Anambra State, Eze Chimereze ,Emmanuel Chukwu Akalika Madu , has raised the alarm over what he called”Attack on Igbo cultural heritage, by some anti cultural forces” , who he alleged are bent on destroying cherished and invaluable Igbo traditional heritage.
Eze Chimereze , who is the Eze Ndigbo of Oriade LCDA in Lagos State , has over the years also earned himself respect as a gifted traditionalist and lover of Igbo Culture with prophetic insight .
In his fearful Revelations from ancestral spirits , Eze Chimereze , warned of imminent great calamity looming against those bent on trading the cultural sanctity of the Igbo race for peanuts and stomach infrastructure.
Chukwuakalika Madu’s timely prophetic , revelations , which he said the holy Spirit gave him and his cultural sanctity advocacy , is coming on the heals of recent controversial banning of use of Eze Ndigbo title in diaspora , which was purportedly declared by the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo world wide, Senator John Azuta – Mbata , his Enugu based Imeobi, in collaboration with the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, led by Eze Imo, Eze Emmanuel Okeke , from Amaifeke, Orlu ,Imo State.
Eze Chimereze, the calm headed leader , categorically rejected the ban on Eze Ndigbo title and advised the Purveyors of the name change , who he described as anti Cultural elements and harbingers of death, to desist , retrace their steps, before the wrath of God visits them and erupts brothers against brothers crisis .
Further using Igbo adage to drive home his point, Eze Chimereze asked all the concerned Igbo leaders,who are blowing the embers of fire of hatredness ,to remove “the monkey’s hand from the soup, before it turns into a human hand”.
He accused Mbata, Imeobi and the Royal Fathers from the South East of deliberately heating up the polity, over what he called a none issue, that is purely an act of sabotage to the Igbo Nation and it’s rich cultural heritage .
Stating his prophetic revelations ,as it was giving to him by the Spirit of God, Eze Oriade , was vexed that those acclaimed Ndindu group fighting the “Eze title ” inherited culture of Igbo origin ,are self made, self acclaimed Ezes not crowned Eze’s, but political bootlickers , who for whatever advantage they believe that they have ,have continued to create crisis, divisions amongst Traditional leaders in diaspora, deceiving the host community , just for their stomach infrastructural benefits.
These group , he called Charlatants , who he said ,”have been changing different nomenclatures for decades now, before resorting to Chiefs and Onyendu, were never Community based, have no grassroot support, not selected and crowned by their community , they just wear long regalia and beads, and are ever ready to join the political parties bandwagon for financial and monetary benefits”.
Expressing his holy anger against the South East Royal Fathers, Eze Oriade , noted that contemplating changing nomenclature or banning a cultural heritage of Ndigbo because of abuse by few, was wrong and bad leadership, adding that what the Royal Fathers in South East ought to have done ,would have been to counsel, give guidelines and directives to Ndieze Ndigbo in Diaspora, as well as stipulate red lines at which erring bad eggs, who are abusing the title, can be weeded out of the Ezeship institution .
Comparing Igbo Nation to the Jewish belief system, where periodic references were made about the living God ,as God of Ancestors, Abraham ,Moses , Isaac and Jacob, Eze Chimereze revealed that Igbo ancestral spirit and Holy spirit are the same ,not dead but living, working in tandem with each other, and watching over Ala Igbo , it’s cultures and traditions.
Searching deeper into the realms of the spirit , Eze Oriade, who said he spoke through the leadership of the holy Spirit and his ancestral spirit , opined that Adam , Eve and Father Abraham are the father of the whole human race ,be they Hausas, Fulani, Yoruba , Igbo , efiks, kanuri etc, hence God does not have a demarcations for tribes in heaven after death.
He warned those trying to fight the ancestral spirit of Ndigbo, to be careful and properly guided, as no human being on planet Earth can succeed in fighting God ,the owner of cultural heritage , such as Igbo culture that is now a mass movement , that has transversed all over the globe .
He noted that if it is the will of God that Igbo culture of Eze Ndigbo title ,will spread and save mankind in the entire universe , nobody can stop it .some people could fight Igbo culture from spreading but cannot stop the Igbo ancestral spirits movement and inter- race or inter tribal marriages happening world wide.
Reeling out innumerable gains of teaching and impacting children born outside Igbo Land, on the need of celebrating Igbo culture and traditions in diaspora, he insisted that Igbo cultural movement must not be allowed to die, and should be celebrated for future impact and generations to come.
Recollecting with nostalgia his own personal experiences of celebration of Igbo Spiritual Culture in the Republic of Cameroon ,where he sojourn from age of 14 years, Eze Oriade ,revealed that his own Ezeship was from God Almighty, adding that God is God of Culture who works with culture.
He noted that his first attribution or installation as King was first enacted in the Catholic Church in Lagos , where he was first divinely made Royal Father of all the Ethnic groups ,before his Igbo Community selected him as Eze Ndigbo and Coronated him.
Throwing up a challenge, he asked ,”If there is no Eze in diaspora , who will teach or direct Igbo children born in diaspora about Igbo cultural Justice System ,called Ofo na Ogu, Igbo cultural attires , foods, Religion, deities , celebrations , language, market calendar , even to know what certain symbols like kolanut, Nzu, Alligator pepper , hot drink used for libation, means?.
Drawing a Spiritual debate , he emphatically stated that ,though only God is Omni present, but He works through beings, such as ancestral Spirits.
He further revealed that there are instances where known deities and ancestral spirits follows Igbos round the world, visiting them for specific purposes .
Listing the ideals and countless importance of having Eze Ndigbo in diaspora as Igbo cultural Ambassadors , Eze Chimereze ,asked the South East Royal Fathers, “when last they visited any state in Nigeria and out side Nigeria ,to settle rifts and disputes amongst Ndigbo or settle inter- ethnic problems involving Igbos?.How can they relate with Igbos outside the country if there are no Ezes in diaspora?, he asked.
Warning Ndigbo not to wrestle with God, the Creator of the Universe and Cultural diversity,by splitting Eze and Oha into two, he noted that without Eze , Ohanaeze is useless , just as without Oha , Eze is incomplete .
Proving the divine place of Kingship in Igbo Cultural mystic cosmology and Metaphysis , Eze Chimereze , quoted the Holy Bible that said “by the reason of our baptism ,we are all made Kings,Prophets and Priest .He then asked ,Who can battle with God?.
Lashing at the South East Royal Fathers and their Cohorts , who he called proponents of Ndindu Chiefs, Eze Chukwu Akalika Madu , tutored them to know that Eze Ndigbo is the Symbolic authority in Igbo cultural heritage, cosmology and dynasty .
Bemoaning the ongoing attack on Igbo cultural Eze Ndigbo Title,by those he called half Ndigbo’s and strangers, Eze Oriade, therefore asked them, saying, “even if someone had deceived you people to degrade, belittle , down grade, remove the honor in Igbo Cultural heritage by Changing the Title to Onyendu Ndigbo, in comparison to other similar Cultural offices , such as Oba, Seriki , Obong, Nupe , Igala , Tiv ,etc, is it to whose glory , shame or disadvantage?.
Indeed, there have been back lashes against Senator Mbata’s banning declaration , as majority of Ndigbo in the Diaspora have totally rejected the name change , calling it an aberration and anti Igbo Republican nature.
The battle line appears to have been drawn now between the few pro – Onyendu leaders in Lagos and the South East Royal Fathers ,on one side and the Pro – Eze Ndigbo title mass movement sweeping across the Diaspora on the other side.
