In a classical but decisive show of Force moves, seen by many Igbo Stakeholders as a veritable strategy to finally silent it’s opposition and prove it’s recognition and strong attachment to the National Body, Chief Linus Igbudu led Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, has passed a vote of confidence on Senator John Mbata and gave a strong backing to his Ohanaeze Ndigbo World Wide Leadership.

Buoyed by the massive attendance and grassroots support base in the LCDAs ,as witnessed last Saturday, August 15,2026, at the National Stadium auditorium in Lagos, the Group’s General Assembly, also suspended three of their hitherto members over what it described as misconduct.
News Planet International reports that their Suspension was highlighted in a communique issued at the end of the meeting , which was signed by the Secretary General, Chief Robert Obasi, who listed the suspended members as Mr. Mike Orji, Mr. Paul Eze, and Mr. Thompson Ohia.
In addition , the Assembly resolved that the three individuals are suspended with immediate effect from all activities and engagements of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.

The communique also noted that the suspended members are barred from participating in any meeting, gathering, program, or activity of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State or any of its Local Government chapters until further notice.
They were further directed to tender an unreserved public apology to Senator Mbata and members of the Global Executive Council for their alleged misconducts and publications.
According to the General Assembly, it condemned what it described as “derogatory publications” made against the President General across various media platforms and distanced its group from the actions and statements of the three individuals.
In a contradictory stand and statement to the alleged derogatory publications, the Assembly further reaffirmed its confidence, loyalty, and respect for Senator John Azuta-Mbata and the entire members of the Global Executive Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Bringing the issue of its elections to the front burner , the Assembly acknowledged that elections are due in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State and expressed full support for the Chief John Azuta Mbata-led Global Executive Council ,to conduct a constitutionally compliant election.
The Assembly cited a subsisting court order which directed maintaining the status quo, explaining that Chief Robert Obasi, other duly recognized officers of the State, and all sitting Local Government Chairmen will continue to function pending the final determination of the matter in court.
However , in a direct address to the opposition ,the Assembly called on Chief Leonard Okafor, to publicly renounce the purported election of April 6, 2026 and re-unite with the mainstream Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State ,in the interest of peace and collective progress, adding that his election was a “charade”.
Flaunting it’s authenticity , the group placed the public and Lagos State Government on notice, saying that no valid election of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State has been conducted, insisting that any communication not signed by Chief Robert Obasi should be disregarded.
The General Assembly appreciated Ndigbo in Lagos for standing firm on truth and thanked Barr. Chinonye Obiagwu, SAN, and Professor Rose Anerlu for their support.
Members were urged to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes peace, harmony, and the interest of Ndigbo.
The meeting drew thousands of Ndigbo from across the various LCDAs in Lagos State and reaffirmed Lagos as the largest and most loyal base of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide outside Igboland.
