A Notable and Highly  Respected  Igbo Leader and Business Mogul, Eze Dr. Alex Sunday Nwoye, has admonished Traditional Leaders in diaspora ,to flaunt their score Cards, achievements, humanitarian  and philanthropic contribution to Igbo Nation , instead of ongoing bickering over Onyendu Ndigbo and Eze Ndigbo Titles .

In his Easter Good Will message to the Igbo Nation, despatched from his  palatial Country home in Uga, Aguata , Anambra State, Nwoye , who is also the Onyendu Ndigbo in Ejigbo ,frowned at ongoing crisis over mere titles ,insisting that  ,”Eze Ndigbo and Onyendu  Should Not Constitute Conflict Amongst Ndigbo and leaders ,both home and in diaspora “.

Traditionally known as “Ozo , Duru Ochiri ozua in Uga, Eze Nwoye therefore advised Ndigbo in Lagos , to embrace Unity and Peace Over Crisis , especially  amidst ongoing crises in Lagos.

Nwoye, who earned a Yoruba Title of Bobaselu of Ejigbo Land, regretted that the crises, centering around the Onyendu and Ezendigbo titles, is gradually damaging the image of Ndigbo in lagos state.

He emphasized that the title of Onyendu or Eze shouldn’t be a source of conflict, but rather what leaders have achieved for Ndigbo’s progress should be the focus .

Giving his own historical background, Eze Bwiye recalled being crowned Onyendu Ndigbo years ago and receiving recognition as Ezendigbo in Ejigbo, focusing on Ndigbo’s welfare instead of making noise about titles.

The Igbo leader expressed disappointment with the numerous crises facing Ndigbo in Lagos, urging parties to change their approach for the group’s interest.

He lashed out at some individuals, who he said are driven by selfish interests, accusing them of fueling the crisis.

Ozo Nwoye, also stated that the noise of Onyendu should stop , noted that the crisis is being championed by those he described as” Eze na agu “(those who want to be King by all cost), to advance their selfish interest and not for the interest of Ndigbo.

He further  explained that the title of Onyendu is not an issue because,” whether you answer Onyendu or Eze,  the important thing is what you have been able to achieve for the progress of Ndigbo as a leader”.

“Onyendu title is not mandatory , it is either you accept and join or not , hence there is no need for abusive words to one another other”

According to him, he was crowned  Onyendu Ndigbo, years ago when Chief Oliver Akubueze was the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos and he equally received the certificate of recognition as Ezendigbo in Ejigbo by Ohanaeze and Igbo Speaking community Lagos State.

Onyendu Nwoye who is also the

President General of Incorporated Associations of Igbo Indigenes, Eze & Apex leaders of Igbo Community Worldwide, said  he was not making noise about it, rather he concentrated on the welfare of Ndigbo in Ejigbo, invariably in Lagos State as their leader.

Nwoye explained that Ezendigbo or Onyendu title is a nomenclature that differentiate Igbo leaders in diaspora from the traditional rulers of Southeast and Obas of the host community, which are not supposed to cause any crises and rancor among Igbo leaders in Lagos.

On Ohanaeze Ndigbo crisis , Nwoye,  advised Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos to embrace peace and unite as a group, for the interest of Ndigbo in Lagos, noting that “he was aware that one faction was planning for election and nobody knows what the other faction will be planning after the election, because they claimed that they have valid Court order to stop the election”.

Eze Nwoye said that he was really not happy with the confusion and acrimony among Ndigbo in Lagos and he had to travel to his home town in Uga for Easter holiday to rest  and make consultations for the celebration of  his 70th birthday coming on June,2026.

The conflict has led to concerns about Ndigbo’s image in Lagos. Eze Nwoye’s Easter goodwill message emphasized the need for peace and unity among Ndigbo leaders.

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo crisis isn’t new, with previous disputes over leadership and titles. Some factions have sought police intervention, while others advocate for peaceful resolution”, he said.

Eze Nwoye’s call for peace echoes previous statements from Igbo leaders, emphasizing unity and progress. The crisis has sparked concerns about Igbo representation and leadership in Lagos.

The outcome of the dispute remains uncertain, with court orders and factional plans adding complexity,as  Ndigbo’s future in Lagos hangs in the balance.

Eze Nwoye’s leadership and vision for Ndigbo’s progress are crucial in these uncertain times. His commitment to peace and unity is a positive step forward.

The Igbo community in Lagos looks to leaders like Eze Nwoye for guidance and stability. His efforts to promote peace are commendable.
