Igbo Community in Mushin area of Lagos State was agog last Saturday, November 8,2025, as Onyeisi Ndigbo 1 Na’ Mushin, Chimereeze Ambassador Dr. Peter Chukwudi Umeh,JP, popularly known as Janganza, his Cabinet Chiefs and Members of the popular ‘Obi – Ukwu Ndigbo Na’ Mushin Palace’, celebrated their 2025 Igbo Day, New Yam Festival (Iri-ji) and launching of Almanac in grand style.

The unique occasion which besides the usual razzmatazz of cultural New yam fiesta, had dual medical outreach ,where free kidney lecture, other health speeches and medical service were provided to guests .
This is even as free herbal tea supplement was dished out to dignitaries and participants.

Most of the Dignitaries and guests were impressed and commended the trailblazer role that ‘Obi Ukwu Ndigbo Na’ Mushin, has been playing over 17 years now, in promoting Igbo traditions and Cultural heritage in diaspora .
Some of the guests described the medical outreach innovation as novel, even as they affirmed that the festival was “a well organized solemn event devoid of rowdiness “.

The cultural fiesta which started at Chimereeze Umeh’s palatial Palace, located at 15, Agorobogunbolu Street, off Sadiku Street, opposite Vulganizer bus stop, Ilasamaja, Mushin, lagos State, started at about 3pm, with prayers, welcome speech and meritorious Chieftaincy Title honors ,which was bestowed on four deserving Igbo Sons and daughter.
Those conferred with Chieftaincy Title honors, in the presence of many guest Eze Ndigbos, Onowu, Obi Ukwu Ndigbo ,High Chief Jude Ejeagha, Palace Chairman, Chief Akuewebe, Ossy Jude Umeugo and many other Cabinet Chiefs.were : Chief Henry Chinonso Anagwu ( Aku si na Chi); Sir, Chief Chinedu Ugoagu( Eze Chiwubelu) ;Nze Chika Nwagu( Ezi-Okwu di Nkpa) and Chief Mrs Stella Ukwunne( Eze Nwanyi).

Shortly after installation of the new Chiefs at the palace, Onyeisi Ndigbo ,Ambassador Umeh , in a royal dance steps with his wife ,Ugoeze ,along side his guest Ezes and dignitaries ,moved to the hall, were their Almanac was launched and award plaques were given out to beneficiaries .
Classed as unique and matured, guests and dignitaries were entertained and ushered into the hall by cultural dance groups .

Exhibiting his artistry and mastering of royal father’s dance steps, Eze Umeh, who was clad in an immaculate up and down white material with a red cultural cap, while breaking the traditional Igbo kola nut with other Igbo Leaders, poured libations and prayed for peace ,long life and success of his subjects, National political leadership and the entire country at large.
Besides the exhibition and display of different Igbo cultural musical rendition, assorted foods and drinks where not in short supply, as guests had much to eat and drink, while some took food packages home
An indication of how grand and exclusive the ceremony was, Mushin local government Chairman ,was ably represented ,while some top Ndieze Ndigbo such as Eze Ndigbo in Ikeja, Eze Uche Dimgba, popularly known as “Okpotemba”; Eze Ndigbo in Oshodi, Eze Ruben Ezeibeakanma, Eze Udenmba of Ezinifite; Eze John Gregg Ezebuadi,Ezeigbo of Iba Land, President of Eze Ndigbo in 12 Southern States ,South – South and South – west; Eze Augustine Sunday Ojukwu of Amuwo Odofin;Eze Ndigbo Isolo, Eze Ikem Agbasi; Eze Tony Anosike of Onigbogbo; Eze Ndigbo of Bucknor , Eze Emenike Okpaga , Ichie Anselm Njoku ; Chief Chris Ekwilo, aka Anya; Founder, Ndigbo Ekunie Cultural Association, Prince Andy Moore Ezejioha ; Mr. Okechukwu Elota and many other notable personalities were present.
Others guests that graced the event are, Chairman, DV Procurement and Logistics, Mr. David Aduaka ;Mr. Maxwell Okafor; Pastor Clifford Umeh and the entire Management team of Clifford Kidney Foundation International .

In appreciation of all the Ndieze Ndigbo present and some notable individuals , Chimereeze Umeh and his Palace Chiefs gifted them with a live chicken and tubers of yams.
