A notable Igbo Leader and Eze Ndigbo of Lagos Island, Eze Dr. Onyeka Ifekandu, has enjoined his Fellow Ezes and other Igbo Leaders in Diaspora , to propagate and impact the rich Igbo culture and values on their Children, so that posterity will remember them .
Eze Ifekandu, who is a renowned entrepreneur and Philanthropist ,was speaking to Journalists on the sidelines, during Eze Augustine Sunday Ojukwu’s 2025 Ofala and New Yam Festival, Sponsored by Eze Ndigbo Na Amuwo Odofin Foundation, which was held at the prestigious Trade Fair Motel, Lagos State.
The Traditionalist, who confirmed that he was impressed with the standard and success of the Cultural expositions as organized by Eze Ojukwu, during the New yam festival held on October 24, 2025, noted that Igbo culture is a way of life.
Speaking on Igbo Cosmology , Eze Ifekandu ,who believes that the obvious disunity amongst Igbos, is a great issue , noted that Ndigbo are Law abiding and a special breed of human beings.
This is even as he insisted that Ezeship in diaspora is very paramount for Igbo Cultural renaissance and posterity .
Born on March 18, 1976, in Enugwu Ukwu town, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria, Eze Dr Ifekandu’s life is a testament to hard work, dedication, and passion for excellence.
His academic journey began at Holy Ghost Primary School and Government Secondary School, North Bank, Makurdi, Benue State.
He furthered his education at Lagos State Polytechnic, where he studied Banking and Finance.
During his time on campus, he demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial skills, laying the foundation for his future business ventures.
Today, Eze Dr Ifekandu is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mac-Akudiufu Nigeria Limited, a leading company in tailoring materials distribution.
He also owns Park City BDC Limited, a foreign exchange business services company accredited by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Through his business endeavors, he has created opportunities for many Nigerian youths, providing them with valuable mentorship and tutelage via the popular Igbo apprenticeship system.
Eze Dr. Ifekandu holds several prestigious traditional titles, including Nze Akuomadifu Nkpata Enugwu Ukwu na Umunri, Ozonkpu Omechaluili Ili Ofubochi, and Eze Ndi Igbo Lagos island.
He is happily married to Iyom Chief Mrs. Nkechi Ifekandu and blessed with four children.
Dr. Ifekandu is a recipient of many Humanitarian leadership awards, which celebrates his excellence and inspiring life’s journey.
Eze Ifekandu’s achievements serve as an inspiration to many. His commitment to excellence, entrepreneurship, and community development has earned him recognition and admiration.
His journey into Eze Ndigbo title started in Lagos Island, where due to his large heart and Philanthropy , Oba of Lagos, traders and Igbo residents there gave him the title.
This title was officially cemented by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos Chapter under Chief Solomon Aguene, where he was crowned by king Makers led by first president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo ,Chief John Uche, popularly known as “Akpatinsiegbe “.
However, as an avowed man of Culture, Tradition, dignity ,and to avoid the usual integrity and authenticity issues surrounding Eze Ndigbo titles in diaspora, Eze Dr. Onyeka Onyenachie Ifekandu, decided to have himself inducted by the Igbo Speaking Community as their Eze Ndigbo.
His humble background, rare achievements, including Ozonkpu title ,as he is fondly called by his peers, Propelled his love for the poor and Indigent People in the society.
Indeed he has been campaigning and advocating that wealthy business Men and women should devote zero point one percent of their yearly incomes to the cause of the indigent and less privileged in the society.
Little wonder he founded the Corporate Work of Mercy Initiative, which he called “Ezendigbo Welfare Foundation “
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent in his Palace at the Green Field Estate, he explained that his humble beginning was very difficult, not Rosy, full of early stage hardship , hence his early poor background now motivates him to help the poor .
